Thread: How quickly we turn

    How quickly we turn

I am staggered at the calls for Warnock to be replaced and the general negativity on here

1800 fans at home v Wrexham in the old fourth division anyone ?

Get a grip of yourselves , Warnock is the best manager we had had in years

He saved us from relegation , got us to the moneybags League and following an indifferent start it's time for him to go ?

    Un feckin believable

Time stands still for no man Sludgey.
Football is perpetual. When the team are doing well, they and the manager will be applauded. When they aren’t, the fans will let them know.
You’ve been around long enough to know that .

Oh **** off back to 1988 in your tardis Sludge. So we were shit 30 years ago? Who gives a ****, we’ve moved on since then. Shall we put up with whatever is served up just because we used to be crap?

Warnock is quick enough to personally take all the credit when things are going well so he should take the deserved critiscm that’s coming his way at the moment. His transfer dealings in the last 4 windows have been nothing short of disgraceful.

I'm not seeing or hearing many calls for Neil Warnock to be sacked, more a sense of frustration that having spent something like £20 million over the summer, we are still playing a very dull brand of football which has the added disadvantage of not working anywhere near as well as it did when we were last in this division - the sort of football played by, for example, Neil Warnock and Tony Pulis has to deliver wins aplenty in the Championship or people will quickly turn against it.

Sludge, since the days of playing Wrexham in the old 4th division we've moved on.

This season marks the 20th anniversary of the last time we were relegated to the bottom division. That means it'll be 20 years ago next year that Sam Hammam took over Cardiff City. There's a thought.

Over that time we have spent 17 consecutive seasons in the 2nd tier of English football and above. 15 of those seasons have been at Championship level. 11 of those 15 seasons have seen us finish in the top half, with 3 playoff campaigns and 2 automatic promotions.

We have spent 2 seasons in the Premier League. We are 1 of 45 teams that have competed in the top flight in the last 20 years. Since our first promotion to the Premier League, we have played in that division more recently than Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn, Nottingham Forest, Bolton, Derby, Barnsley, Charlton, Birmingham City, Portsmouth, Wigan, Reading and a number of others.

Over the last decade, we rank 23rd of all sides in the PL and EFL in terms of final league positions over that time.

Since our promotion to this level in 2003, 19 sides that had played in the Premier League up until that point have played in League 1. We haven't slipped to that level, meaning we're one of only 19 teams since 2003 to have spent every season in the Championship or higher.

Yet, you're still harping on about a game in 1987. Merthyr beat Atalanta that year, yet they don't keep advertising themselves as Serie-A conquerers.

Excellent precis of our last 20 years. It's been a good time to be a City fan, and everyone moaned at Dave Jones, Solskjaer, Slade, Trollope and now Warnock. Having said that we could have done so much better. It'll take where we are now rather than the last game in 1986/87 at a Ninian Park that was falling down, playing Hartlepool in front of 1100 fans. But I still reserve the right to criticise the size of Paterson's arse.

    Absolutely.

Some fans are observant and look at how they feel things could be better, yet others see this as being negative.

The crux of the matter is he said he's going.
Why give him a lap of honour?
The club is bigger than any individual.

I hate this "we were crap 30 years ago" stuff. So what? Wales were crap 30 years ago, we've improved and now I'm disappointed if we don't qualify for major tournaments and if Giggs doesn't produce the right results he should be moved on. We also didn't have a 33000 seater stadium and tens of millions of tv money and parachute payments 30 years ago

This clearly proves that sludge has been unhappily married for 30 years.
