Following the Slovakian FA statement published to their website on Sunday, 22 September detailing the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body decision to close their stadium for the upcoming match between Slovakia and Wales in Trnava on 10 October, the Football Association of Wales has been seeking clarification on the decision directly from UEFA.
UEFA has confirmed the sanction to the FAW this morning (23 September) that Slovakia are to play one match behind closed doors, therefore, the European Qualifying match at the Štadión Antona Malatinského on 10 October.
UEFA has advised that the sanctions detailed in Article 73 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (detailed below) will apply.
The FAW is incredibly disappointed as the impact of this decision will harshly affect our supporters who have already incurred the costs of travel and accommodation to attend this match to support the Wales National Team.
The FAW is currently making strong representations to UEFA about this unfair impact on the 2,137 fans who have purchased tickets for this match. Our supporters have an excellent reputation and do not deserve to be punished in the same way as the small section of the fans whose conduct has been reprimanded by the imposed UEFA sanction.
The FAW is also deeply frustrated in the communication of this decision to the association, which has generated a lot of unfair frustration and uncertainty for the association and the supporters.
UEFA has advised that the FAW is unable to appeal against the decision not to allow Wales fans into the stadium.
The FAW understands that the Slovakian FA intend on submitting an appeal against the decision of the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body and will continuously monitor the situation.
Article 73 Matches to be played behind closed doors
Unless the competent disciplinary body decides otherwise, no one is allowed to attend a match to be played behind closed doors, with the exception of:
a. a maximum of 200 people holding category 1 tickets from the visiting club or association and a maximum of 20 VIP guests for each club or association;
b. a maximum of 55 people per team delegation, including the players;
c. accredited broadcast staff and media (journalists and photographers);
d. police officers and security staff with specific tasks related to security at the match;
e. people carrying out functions related to the stadium infrastructure (groundkeepers, lighting, signage, etc.) and persons carrying out functions related to the match (ball-kids, children involved in the pre-match ceremony as well as their chaperones);
f. a maximum of 75 UEFA representatives carrying out functions at the match;
g. people from UEFA and UEFA partners holding complimentary tickets;
h. children up to the age of 14 (duly accompanied) from schools and/or football academies invited to the match free of charge.
SLOVAKIA UPDATE / DIWEDDARIAD:
The Football Association of Wales is currently clarifying the situation with regards to the Slovakian FA statement on their stadium ban for the European Qualifying match with Cymru on 10 October.
The FAW will provide a further update in due course.

The obvious game to be played behind closed doors is the reverse fixture between the temas involved. Inadequate notice EUFA you MORONS.
One of the worst decisions I've seen from UEFA this, and there's been plenty down the years.
17 days before a game when tickets have already been sold, flights and hotels booked. There is 8 of us going so between us we'd have wasted about £250 each if we decide not to go - which is 10% of the total fine imposed on Slovakia for their racism. Madness.
The Denmark game being played in Aarhus, the Croatia game being played in a stadium not fit for purpose and far from safe, and now this. It has been a shocking year for Welsh fans that go away. Shambles.

This really is disgraceful at such short notice.
I suppose letting away fans watch the match and not the offending home fans would not be a sensible approach either.
Not an easy one but maybe a game in 'x' amount of future home games, the next qualifying campaign perhaps, would be a better solution.
Yeah it makes no sense to me, they are supposed to be punishing one country, not two? A great punishment would be to ban the Slovakian fans but LET 2000 wales fans in.....job done
Disgraceful. I can understand the decision to play the game behind closed doors but surely the authorities should ensure that as part of their punishment the Slovakian FA are made to pay for the costs incurred by away supporters who have done absolutely nothing wrong and are now left out of pocket.
UEFA have gone from awarding us for our good behaviour at Euros 2016 to this in just 3 years. There has also been some suggestion, I haven't seen whether accurate or not yet, on twitter that the rules allow for under 14's to be in the stadium and as these must be accompanied by a parent/guardian there is likely to be Slovakia fans and very few Wales fans; although there is still a ticket category that would allow entry for Wales fans away from the away fans section?
If they aren't going to let Wales fans inside then they should absolutely be compensated and it shouldn't come from the FAW.
They couldn't between them reach the decision that it might be better to choose a game for which no tickets have yet been sold to impose this sanction? Jesus!
Agreed, this is a chance for politicians to show that they are not the out of touch, snout in the trough bunch that many think they are - they should be putting pressure on UEFA to ensure Welsh supporters are reimbursed.

Doesnt say accredited by who, maybe the FAW could run a " online / e.mail course " for photography as football ? ? ? ( Answer a few e,mail questions / google survery type of thing ) then print out the FAW Slovakian game photo accredited certificate

Slovakia are appealing the decision, which may mean the ban is suspended until after our game.

Gets even more ridiculous this. Slovakia will be allowed to fill the stadium with children up to the age of 14 and one adult to every 10 as a chaperone. It is a similar loophole that Partizan Belgrade used to fill the stadium with 22,000 kids and adults for a Europa game that was meant to be played behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, 2000 welsh fans who've paid for a hotel, flight and ticket will be stood outside, at home or in a pub. Yet Slovakia were the ones that were racist...amazing.
