    Lampard, Chelsea & England

There are 4 Chelsea players in the England squad, and 3 of them were playing in the Championship last season. Lampard is certainly giving the young players a fair crack of the whip, and it looks like his faith is being rewarded. The big question is can this policy bring success in the long-term, and will it become a trend for other clubs to follow? This model seems to be working quite well in the German Bundesliga, and I would love to see it happen at Cardiff City. There is something about seeing young players come through the ranks and making the grade, especially if they are home-grown talents. Players like Tosh, Earnie, Blakey & Rambo were great to watch, even though they moved onto to better themselves. It's a pity that out academy is such a shambles, as I had high hopes when Bellamy first came on the scene.

Aren’t Chelsea under a transfer embargo? So his hand has been forced a bit, still it would be great if some other club’s took notice of Chelsea’s situation and tried it themselves by including a few of their home grown youngsters instead buying an overseas ‘off the shelf’ 26 or 27 year old. Lampard has got a bit of a free hit with the embargo but had it not been in place would he have blooded the youngsters or spent big? We’ll never know.........until the embargo is lifted.

I don’t think he would’ve got the job if they never had an embargo.
Had Allegri written all over it.

Most probably right, the embargo would have made a lot of managers distance themselves from the job. Lampard, right place at the right time with plenty of slack given to him by the fans.

If sarri had had the start to the season that lampard has had then Chelsea fans would have been apoplectic with him, even with the embargo.
As it is Tammy Abraham's form has probably stopped him from facing too many awkward questions, at least until Christmas

Yes, Chelsea are under a transfer embargo, but Lampard is still playing the youngsters instead of the more established players, and the England call-ups for Tammy, Mount & Tomori would suggest that he is doing something right.

You can’t compare the PL to the Bundesliga.... there is a chasm between the 2 in terms of technical prowess

It’s slack that is well deserved though. He was outstanding for Chelsea as a player for many seasons.
