I have to ask, what is a "centre ground" politician these days? There is a quote by left-leaning pundit, Jon Lis who reminded us that: "Stewart supported every pinch of Tory austerity, fully embraced May’s Brexit deal, and wanted to end free movement. As leader he’d have been ridiculed 20 years ago as hardline figure of the right." Rory Stewart is a Tory through and through and politically probably more right-wing than David Cameron, although they share a presentation style. Is presentation style enough? Sadiq Khan is politically more of the centre ground, especially for London, than Rory Stewart and equally so in presentation style.
