    Watched it with my daughter. I told her they were singing in Welsh and she asked me: "are they singing Oh say can you see?"

    Are there any other examples of sporting crowds singing a national anthem in a language they (i.e. the majority of them) don't speak?

    The tune to god save the queen is used by Lichtenstein and sung in German.
    Norway use the tune as well
    Switzerland used to use the tune up until the1970s

    Four national anthems in the world are played without lyrics: Spain, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo and San Marino.
