Is that surprising? Universities are very big businesses, they bring in millions of money from overseas ,and attract top talent here.
Almost like its a Russell Group university employing experts in their fields
I just looked, in 17/18 Cardiff university had a turnover of more than £500 million! Most businesses that size will have many people on more than £100k
ones for the future
just surprised it was high up the earnings table , Cardiff is only behind the University of Edinburgh (335) and the University of Manchester (331) on the list.
University funding isn’t all taxpayer money either.
I don’t see much of an issue with this. The best universities need the best staff.

There won't be 250 senior lecturers though. Agree a lot of lecturers would earn that much but not as a salary. They will have multiple sources of income. I know we pay consultancy fees to academics but I think it is paid direct to them, not via their university. As above, it is surely doctors and surgeons bumping up that number.
