Thread: They really should stick to "Get Brexit done".

They really should stick to "Get Brexit done".

The first ten to fifteen minutes of last night's Newsnight made for very tough viewing for the Conservative Party, the party that, despite the shambles they have presided over since the 2016 Referendum, still, apparently see themselves as the one to guide the country through the awkward times ahead - the "natural party of Government" with the tradition of leaders who were "born to rule".

For those that missed it, Newsnight led with these four stories which all broke yesterday;-

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ged-trial.html

    https://www.ft.com/content/9a99b986-...c-f3fa4e77dd47

The Rees-Mogg fiasco got worse as well when one of the Tory "Spartans" Andrew Bridgen decided to ride to his aid by offering the following "clarification"

which has been, inevitably, followed by the same profound apology for any offence caused that we saw from Rees-Mogg.

Regarding the Daily Mail story on Alun Cairns which concludes with the following;-

"The Welsh Conservatives said the email contained 'no new information' and that the party had no record of the judge's comments relating to Mr England."

perhaps they would like to read this story

    https://www.itv.com/news/wales/2019-...nded-by-party/

which includes these words from the trial judge to Mr England;-

"You have managed, singlehandedly, and I have no doubt it was deliberate on your part, to sabotage this trial.

"Mr England, as far as I am concerned, this matter so far as you are concerned isn’t ended. I shall be writing personal letters to people who are politically close to you and I hope they take appropriate action. Get out of my court."

Not covered by Newsnight, but another story which is embarrassing for the Government is the one that they have suppressed the publication of the intelligence and security committee’s report into Russian interference in recent British elections until after next month’s general election.

Here is what the, usually supportive, Times has to say on that decision in an editorial this morning;-

Finally, we have the Prime Minister launching his party's election campaign in his fan club magazine (AKA the Daily Telegraph) today by comparing the official opposition and their leader to Stalin;-

All of the above have happened within the last twenty four hours (give or take an hour or two) - they really should limit their campaigning to parroting "Get Brexit done" continuously!

This is not a plea for people to vote Labour (they've hardly covered themselves in glory since the last election), but these people are just not up to the job of governing this country and do not deserve the opportunity to do so for the next five years.

The ASA also slammed the Government yesterday for a sustained campaign of UC lies in the Metro paper.
