My reasoning being the logistics for players returning home etc in the days before it wasn't as easy to get home quickly if they were from elsewhere. Cardiff would have been easy to get to and from on the train.

Yes. He didn't sign from Swansea though I don't think. IIRC, Swansea signed him from us.

40+ years ago I remember players just seemed to move between Swansea Cardiff Newport Hereford and Shrewsbury

Up until 2014 when the project seems to have finished, we had signed more players from Newport and Sunderland than anyone else (10 from each). We had signed 8 from Norwich, which is now bumped up to 13 (Lappin is featured on the list). This doesn't include loan signings. Bristol City would be up to 11.

According to Neil Brown, we've only signed 5 players directly from Swansea - Will Foley, Chris Marustik, Dave Penney, Chris Sander and Nigel Stevenson. We've had a lot of ex-Swansea players over the years, but not many directly from the club. I'm not claiming this list is accurate, just presenting it as it is. Over to you if you think it's wrong.

We've certainly gone for quality over quantity when it comes to signing players from the Jacks .
