Etheridge is a liability. I find it incredibly harsh on Smithies that he's lost his place just because Etheridge is no longer injured.

Etheridge is very similar to David Marshall for me. Great shot stopper in the premier league (because we were constantly being peppered with shots) but is completely useless at every other aspect of goalkeeping.

We need an all rounder, which is exactly what Smithies is. He's not amazing at anything, just fairly good at everything. A safe pair of hands.
