    City strikers since Bothroyd/Chopra

Simple list. Goals per game (followed by starting appearances, substitute appearances, goals). Yes, some will have a lot of substitute appearances. Yes, I know this isn't the most accurate way of determining who have been our best strikers, as can be seen by those at the top of the list, but interesting nonetheless.

    Parkin 0.50 2 0 1
    Vassell 0.33 1 2 1
    Campbell 0.31 42 10 16
    Jones 0.28 47 20 19
    Doyle 0.28 13 5 5
    Macheda 0.24 16 17 8
    Zohore 0.24 67 34 24
    Helgusson 0.23 28 11 9
    Mason 0.23 70 39 25
    Watt 0.22 9 0 2
    Miller 0.22 47 3 11
    Lambert 0.21 14 5 4
    Ward 0.20 15 29 9
    Paterson 0.19 54 23 15
    Earnshaw 0.18 10 12 4
    Glatzel 0.18 11 0 2
    Bogle 0.17 8 15 4
    Decordova-Reid 0.17 19 11 5
    Gestede 0.14 15 48 9
    Le Fondre 0.12 20 5 3
    Maynard 0.12 10 16 3
    Odemwingie 0.10 12 8 2
    Revell 0.10 19 11 3
    Bellamy 0.09 41 14 5
    Healey 0.06 4 12 1
    Velikonja 0.00 2 3 0
    Berget 0.00 1 1 0
    Cornelius 0.00 3 8 0
    Guerra 0.00 2 3 0
    Saadi 0.00 0 2 0
    Chamakh 0.00 0 2 0
    Gounongbe 0.00 3 12 0
    Madine 0.00 8 15 0
    Niasse 0.00 12 1 0

Paterson and Bellamy included as they have played up front for us at some point. I think it's interesting that Joe Mason is our most capped striker since the days of Bothroyd and Chopra and is also our top scorer as a striker. Back in the Dave Jones days, 20 goals was pretty much the norm for a striker. It took Mason 5 seasons. Zohore played for us over 100 times and had a big money move, but there are so few strikers in this list that were worth keeping or selling on to bigger clubs. Over a quarter of them never even scored a goal for us.

Looking at that list we've had some total and utter garbage in attack for Championship level, since those two graced the team

RJK or Steve the teacup to be along soon to work out how many 90 minutes those appearances add up to and tell us how great some of those strikers were / are

Yes. We haven't had a regular striker manage a 1 in 3 ratio. Only 3 strikers in that time with more than a handful of appearances have done better than a goal every 4 games. That's pretty crap. It's also fair to say that we haven't really utilised strikers in the same way that Dave Jones did, but even then, the figures are still largely rubbish.

I'm hoping Harris will bring in someone decent striker wise, in the January window, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

    Not sure about that list.

The first one looked very wrong to me (Parkin) and according to Wiki he made 11 appearances, not 2.

He made 2 appearances after Bothroyd and Chopra left (so from the 2011/12 season). I thought that it was quite interesting that the Beast was our most potent striker post Bothroyd/Chopra!!

    Sorry - my bad.

Good list. For a team that has by and large been doing pretty well over that period, it's amazing that we seem to have done it without a goalscorer. How many have bagged 10+ league goals in a season since then? Miller; Kenwyne; Zahore? Paterson probably, but were all of those while operating as a striker? Whitts would have done so from midfield. So is that really it? Miller, Jones and Zahore? In 8 completed seasons?

Bogle, Ward, Madine, Glatzel and whoever else we have who claims to be a striker need to be ****ed off en mass. **** them all off. Ridiculous we keep trying to make these players work.

You've missed off burgstaller, who is currently the one ex-playerplaying the highest level of football

From memory, didn't Solskjaer use him as an attacking midfielder?

Wasn't he signed in the window where if not Tan stating he was joining transfer committee made a statement to suggest he was going to be playing a bigger role in transfers? Perhaps something to remember when people say he knows nothing about football.

How many of those would we commit to now if we could time travel to just before they were signed? Frazier Campbell, Kenwynne Jones (not happily so), Zohore (just), Helguson, Danny Ward, Kenny Miller, Paterson and, hopefully, Glatzel. Might also add Bellamy and Mason, the latter being for cup final goal and return we got through selling him on predominantly, but could also leave them if being ruthless. We've spent an awful lot of time and wages trying to find a gem from nothing.

An impressive list Eric but what about Ross McCormack?
I’m sure he came after Chops but apologies if he didn’t plus Cameron Jerome....?

McCormack came after Chopra left in 2007. He was gone by the time the Bothroyd/Chopra partnership ended in May 2011. Jerome was sold in 2006.

My personal favourite was Leo Fortune West - not dissimilar to Aden Flint 😁😆👍

Looking at that it's amazing to think we got promoted twice to the Premier League with some of those players.

Similarly, it's easy to see why we also got relegated twice.

How Niasse didn’t score is beyond me. So
    Many chances.

Campbell is the best of that bunch IMO. Legit goal scorer. Miller did a good job too.
