Not true. But he did go on a really long unbeaten run.

According to Wikipedia his record from taking over to the end of the season was:

    WWWDDWWWWWDWW

    Pretty ****ing impressive.

No he didn't. He won his first three, drew 2, won 8 of the next 9 which would have been 9 out of 9 bar a dive by Andy Booth at Huddersfield. His first defeat as Cardiff manager was the playoff loss to Stoke.

Yes. Had we won that game at Huddersfield we would have won automatic promotion. We were 14 points behind 2nd place with 13 games to go when Lennie took over and missed out by 1 point.

That was 18 years ago. 9 teams from what was then the second division (now League 1) have since played in the Premier League while 5 lost their place in the league (2 have come back). 7 of those sides are in the same division as us now.
1 is no longer in existence. Bournemouth were relegated along with Wrexham that season. To say they've had contrasting fortunes would be an understatement.

The weird thing is that I've completely forgotten about it. I don't remember us almost getting automatic promotion. The only thing I remember is the Stoke game. I flew home for the away leg and I was supposed to stay for a while, but the day after we lost the home game I changed my flight and ****ed off.

All that stays in the mind is “stay off the pitch”...

Almost getting automatic promotion is stretching it a bit. After the Huddersfield draw we were 5 points behind 2nd placed Reading with 2 games left, though Reading played at 3rd placed Brentford on the final day of the season. Had we won, we were still chasing but had a chance.

Interestingly, Reading went unbeaten in their last 13 matches that season. They drew 10!

And me....seeing stoke go down again to league 1 might ease it, but I don’t think the dark thoughts walking out of Ninian Park that evening will ever go.....

It was the goal they scored at the death against Neil A that killed me.
A deflection off a Stoke players arse.
    Sickener!
