Thread: Great win but lack pace in midfield

Great win but lack pace in midfield

At times Barnsley overrun us. None of Pack, Bacuna or Tomlin could lay a glove on Barnsley. A better team would have beaten us comfortably.
You can see why Bristol wanted rid of Pack. No pace.
Assuming you have to keep Tomlin, Bacuna has to go. Ralls may not be the quickest but at least he gets about the field. Not sure what Vauks brings, apart from his very long throws.

So they had an off day, but that is the same three that played when we beat Notts Forest last week and Stoke before that. They can't be that bad

Do many midfielders have proper pace? Liverpool and Man City, Spurs? Not in our league

I thought Pack was excellent first half, looked knackered second half, i don't understand this love in with Ralls, he can't pass a ball.

We were overrun due to the formations we were playing/against. We played wingers, in a 442 or 4411 while Barnsley were playing 4 in a diamond. This was no more evident, when we would overlap with our fullbacks. Their fullback had to deal with both fullback and winger until someone aids him.

Yeah Pack looked jaded second half.

    This.
Large parts of the game Barnsleys midfield and strikers were confined within the width between each of the penalty areas. 6 players interchanging with little passes had us running around like headless chickens at times.

Yes thats how I saw it.

We gave the ball away easily as well, much more so than against Stoke .

And I thought we looked much more in control against an alledgly better side in Stoke , than a struggling Barnsley team.

Maybe we dont like the hustle bustle hungry sides, which is one of our traits ??
