The Wettest/Coldest you've Ever Been At The Football

Wettest-The Swansea game at home, Midweek Freight rover, Leyland Daf thingy, standing on the bob bank. Coldest-There have been many, although i recall a game against Chester late nineties at home where the pitch was frozen and the game shouldn't have been played, that was very cold.

A special mention for the Oldham Fans (think it was Oldham) who stood on the grange end when it was an open terrace during an FA cup game late nineties. There was what seemed to be a mini Monsoon that hammered the poor buggers who had zero protection, i don't even think that the club took pity on them and put them in the Grandstand. John Hallworth made a string of top class saves that day and we won, i think it was 1-0, although i did feel a bit sorry for them.

    Brighton away, in the 90’s.
Last visit to their old ground
Absolutely pissed down and we were on an open terrace.

We won 5-3 (perhaps 5-2), Paul Miller hat trick

Wasn't that a midweek game or Friday night?

Bit of a wimp when it comes to rain and tend to avoid.

Coldest, plenty of times I’ve gone home unable to feel my feet. One stuck in my mind was Newcastle away in the league cup. Dressed to go out afterwards, Christ did I regret that decision

Wettest - this question comes up every now and again. The correct answer is the same as always.

    Chesterfield away.

Halifax away in the old fourth division

Soaked to the skin on that old coal ash open end behind the goal

Had to drive all the way back to south wales cold and damp as the sole driver as my mate had three pints before the game and was half pissed from the night before anyway

Another nomination for wettest. MK Dons away at the Hockey Stadium in 2003. Bastards took my umbrella

Watford away around Christmas time in the 2000's could be one of the coldest I've ever been

Wettest - Standing on the Bob Bank watching Spurs in the cup.
Cant remember any specific cold nights. With bad circulation anyway, it's always freezing.

    Wettest

Southampton. 2-1 1st game of season on the Bob Bank terrace. It was August ffs!
Bristol Rovers away at Twerton Park Bath on open terrace mid-day kick off. Lost 2-1 think Blake scored.
Fulham away in the 80s. Arrived late just missed us going 2-0 up. We ended up 4-2 down and got drenched.

    Coldest.

Sheff Utd Lost 3-0 away midweek in the late 70s. Went to school in the morning but mate persuaded me to bunk off the afternoon on supporter's coach wearing only shirt and school trousers as I dumped my blazer!

Moscow Wales play off game in November

Think it was a Bristol City home game eons ago. It tipped down all day but suddenly became Biblical along Ninian Park Road post game as we took refuge in a long gone pub called The Craddock. It had a roaring open fire which we took turns standing as close to it front and back without being singed. I can still recall the steam appearing in my mind's eye.

Re: The Wettest/Coldest you've Ever Been At The Football

Wettest: any game played against Pentyrch in junior football

    Coldest: the same

Coldest I’ve ever been watching a match would be a December evening game in an uncovered terrace at St Pauli about 10 years ago. I was stone cold sober but can hardly remember the game as I couldn’t bear to look up and watch it due to the freezing air. Gerald asamoah scores and some tit spilled his pint on me, soaking through my jeans.

Re: The Wettest/Coldest you've Ever Been At The Football

Wettest, a Boxing day match with Shrewsbury in 1998 - was off work with flu for three weeks as a result (which caused me to miss an FA Cup match with Yeovil). Another contender for wettest was a pre season match with Wolves in 2002 when what had been a nice summer's day was transformed into an evening monsoon in no time at all and most of the crowd were dressed entirely inappropriately for it - I remember the club gave out those free plastic "coats" to everyone.

Coldest, a game against Blackpool in 1969 I think it was.

won 3-0, all goals past a weak goalie. Think a better than expected crowd of 13,000
