Thread: Trains to Ninian Park station.

    Trains to Ninian Park station.

Caught a train from Heath lower to Ninian for the Barnsley game. What an absolute pleasure. Plenty of room 3 carriages.

However the return journey was not so easy. Only 1 carriage put on ! Why can’t they put extra carriages and trains on when there’s a game on. The same goes for rugby at the arms park.

Its something to do with poor governance and planning , imagine if they had more trains ,carrages and lines and tge positive effect to roads and environment, these politicians say the right thing about environmental issues and public transport but do very little ,its great soundbite from an area controlled by ones elected Welsh MP's

I was on that train and the contrast with previous home matches this season was clear. I travel down from Treherbert and for other matches this season, the service from there to Cardiff Central was extended on match days so that it could go on to Ninian Park and similar applied after the games when the service ran straight through to Treherbert, but it was back to the old system under Arriva where you had to change at Cardiff Central to get on the outward and return journeys for the Barnsley match.

Surprised you had three coaches - city line is usually only ever 2.
Some volley lines get 2x2 n the peaks but very rarely 3.

There were four carriages on the train from Ninian Park to Treherbert after the Stoke game, it was great.

Four carriages will be the norm, eventually. Last I heard from someone ITK who sits on one of these rail advisory panels is that the carriages are being built, in Newport, and four carriages will (should) be implemented by the end of 2020. There just isnt enough rolling stock to meet demand, nationally, at the moment.

thats great news, boy do we need them ,will folks give up there cars though , if we do get the rolling stock more buses , id be tempted to congestion charge the city to then fund future public transport infrastructure changes.

Some services wont have any carriages today as they've been cancelled.
