    Labour leadership candidates

Clive Lewis has joined Emily Thornberry in announcing he is standing:

+ probably Rebecca-Long Bailey, Keir Starmer, Lisa Nandy, Jess Phillips, and a few others from the pre-Corbyn days - maybe Yvette Cooper - an interesting choice.

I'm glad Lewis has put himself forward. He is another articulate performer on TV, a critical supporter of the current leadership and represents a marginal seat in an outlying area. I don't think he is the best option, but is a serious one.

The deputy leadership field is also looking interesting with Angela Rayner probably the favourite.

Apparently Richard Burgon may also put himself forward for deputy leader.

Can't see him standing much chance.

    Ooooh some sense :

In his article, Clive Lewis went on to criticise the party’s 2019 manifesto for being a “shopping-list of rather disconnected policies”. He said it offered some of the right abstractions about promoting equality and opposing austerity but “never painted a rich and textured picture of actual life in the society that we proposed to build”.

Richard Burgon is like a Peter Kaye character from his first show.

On a side note even though it’s 19 years old ‘that Peter Kaye thing’ still awesome
