    Any of you lot make your own? If so, I'm looking for some tips please

    Yes mate, Put some whole chili's in if you like a little kick, don't cut them up as it can be very hot. Also a couple of tea spoons of sugar.

    My mum used to make ours but there were 8 of us. If you have a small family it is not effort effective sadly. But they are always so much better.

    my mum still makes them, thing is my house hates them, BUT when me and the wife were first dating, my mum asked her " do you want some pickled onion to eat over christmas ", being polite, she said " oh yes please ", so every year we get them, every year we have to palm them off on someone

    i dont have the heart to tell her, as this has been going on for 20 something years

    this evening my mum opens a bag with a tin of qaulity street in ( result ) , jar of pickled onions ( crap ) jar of pickled eggs ( double crap ) , it just wouldnt be christmas without them eh

    I do my own onions every year.
    Much better than the shops.
    I add garlic chilli and pepper corns to add a bit of a kick.

    2 weeks they still have a nice crunch then get softer after that.
