    Re: Norwch v Spurs

3 utterly shite offside VAR decisions today.

This one, the one against Zaha and the one against Burn for Brighton

Why isn’t the offside rule measured against the front foot. It’s bullshit

Killing football,we all moan about the refs but it was so much better when the ref was the man in charge. This is so wrong
on all aspects of football. What the ref see's should be final. We all go back to the pub and say what a crap ref but it a human not a moniter it is too pure not right

I wish they'd rule a foot or head can only be judged as offside.

That or if you can't make a decision within 20 seconds, the goal stands.

VAR is making a mockery of the game.

    Absolutely agree...should be front foot.

What if the player is facing his own end?

Then you're assuming he doesn't have the ability to turn?

... there again, that could be used to describe one of a number of our strikers!

I thought it was for "clear and obvious error"

Sidenote - what a great goal the disallowed one was

    Me too

The question asked of VAR for ALL decisions should be “is there a clear reason I should not award a goal/penalty....?”

An armpit being possibly offside in the frame frozen on the screen with lines and dots ( which does not also prove that this is the moment there is contact on the ball from the player passing the ball ) is not a clear or obvious error and therefore goal should stand.

Back in the day ...level was onside and attacker given benefit of the doubt !

Norwich fans singing .."it's not football any more ..". And they're right, but as I said earlier, they're just the extras, making up a crowd scene. It's those watching on TV etc in Singapore, South Africa, China etc who are the real fans of Soccer 2020. Get ready for sin bins and time outs..

Outside of cardiff players can use one touch to control the ball and the other to turn

But is it the job we wanted it to do? Surely VAR needed to correct obvious errors where one team has unfairly gained an advantage but does an elbow being in front really constitute an advantage gained?

    Re: Norwch v Spurs

Goal line tech works perfect, an a mm either way to determine a goal seems to be an exact science and I'm fine with that.

The VAR offside calls though are a joke and are not an exact science. Pukki's goal should have stood, as should so many others that have been ruled out.

If offside is brought into question one glance from VAR should be able to say obviously he is offside, if it has to take several minutes using laser lines and multiple replays to try to disallow a goal then the benefit of doubt should be given to the attacker.

VAR would have disallowed Chelsea's goal last season with a glance. Linesman made a clear and obvious error and goal would have been ruled out.

Yesterday linesman did not flag Pukki and replays show the margin of error so tight that it exonerated the linesman that he did not make a clear and obvious error and goal should have stood. It's not an exact science as they have a margin of error as to when the ball was struck and with only a mm either way they only need to be a fraction of second out on when they claim the ball was struck for it to have a massive impact on when they say the player was in an offside position.

The arrogance of the PGMOL not to acknowledge this and do something about it is astonishing and the Premier League should be demanding a change as it's their brand that is being tarnished.

The referee could have gone to the pitch side monitor after Pukki's goal, seen immediately that linesman made a valid call and allowed the goal. Further arrogance again from PGMOL to stop referee's making that call.

Soon enough it's going to be like the NFL and every single decision will be ratified and games will take longer and longer.

Agree with the above poster, I have the feeling the VAR man must be a Spurs fan. Totally ridiculous decision.

The Offside laws state that the position of hands and arms are not considered. So how could it possibly have been offside??
