Who remembers the Corfu by Night, in Canton? Get a steak at 4am...
Doesn't sound too outlandish these days, but back then, it was the only place open at that time of night.

    Rumney ?

In the days when we had to either walk or get the bus to school, I walked to St. John Lloyd from Rumney which included a walk through Harris Avenue, Harris Avenue was usually a bit lairy but O.K, summer time I usually walked through Greenway park, I regularly go back to Rumney, it's quite sad to see how this area and particularly Greenway Park has been allowed to decline, the park especially I would guess has been deliberate and in the not too distant future I expect to see flats/housing etc without any additional supporting infrastructure.

Can’t ever remember the Corfu by night being open that late? Only restaurant in Cardiff I know that stayed open really late was the Taurus steak house.

There was also one over the music shop opposite the Cambrian on Caroline St - that was open really late. Also one on Charles St, remember coming out of their on my birthday ( in March ) to see the sunrise!

The one in Charles St was called Manuel's and stayed open until about 6 or 7am. An Irish Bank manager came out of there one early morning just before Christmas and decided it would be good idea, in his inebriated state,to start his Christmas shopping. One of the major department stores had a bedroom display in the window, which reminded him how tired he really was. On entering the shop he noticed that the window-dresser hadn't quite shut the small door leading to the window, so he climbed through and into the bed. Nobody's sure quite how long he was in there but a crowd built up outside and a shop assistant was tipped off and climbed into the window to wake him up. The Irish bloke tussled with the assistant briefly, thinking he was at home and being burgled, until he realised he was in a f***ing window display 😂
