One was free, bought as a backup to a keeper that has since been shipped out for being injury prone.

The other was highly rated and drought in as competition to our now number one.

Why compare the 2 prices? We are selling a keeper we brought in as cover, on a feee, for 3.5 million (if stories are to be believed)

There's actually no logic to that. Smithies is in the squad and already paid for. We'd be receiving £3.5M or £4M to move him from the bench to the starting 11.

If the Randolph deal falls through then it's Etheridge to West Ham. The fee is not enough especially as Smithies cost more and is not nearly as good. Smithies might be better at distributing the ball but there is nothing else in his game that inspires me with confidence.
