Sounds like an entertaining book for those of old enough to remember https://nation.cymru/culture/review-...eroes-of-1976/

I'm old enough to remember it. May 22nd '76 will always be etched in my memory. Looks like a good read, that I shall have to get hold of

It was a decent run that ended in controversy. And a Terry Yorath missed penalty. But I'd hardly call them heroes.

This is like the Scotland game. We were well beaten. But the narrative has chaged to us being defeated only by Jordan's handball.

Same here, the infamous Rudi Glockner game with Sieg Heil chants and him being escorted off the field by police at the end.

Rudi Glockner is the name i shall never forget either.
We've seen some bad referees down the years at NP but this fecker has to be in the top one!

Me neither. It's not often I remember the ref's name. I think the only other one I can think of is Jack Taylor reffing the 1974 WC Cup Final.

Indeed. Probably because of all the English press hype we had to endure of an English referee taking charge of the world cup final.

Of course there is also our own Clive Thomas blowing up for full time a millisecond before Zico scored for Brazil v Sweden in 78!
