    Heavy rock lyrics

A lot of people diss heavy rock music as brain dead noise

But it's very close to classical music in its intensity and some of the lyrics are superb

    Judas Priest

Up here in space , looking down on you

My lasers trace , everything you do

You think you have private lives , think nothing of the kind

I am made of metal , my circuits gleam

I am perpetual , I keep the country clean

I am electric , electric eye , I am electric , electric spy

    ANVIL, winged assassins

Machines made for killing at mach speed and more
Sleek in design and loaded for war
    Soaring death , no escape
    Certain death , widows weep

    Alice in chains

I believe them bones , are me

Some would say , we are born into a grave

I feel so alone , I'm gonna end up a big old pile of .....them bones

What I am trying to say it's not all about tits and bums

    4th line a bit unexpected.

They threw that in to appeal to their older fan base

Sludge, can't you desist? Suggesting those lyrics are anything other than total crap is ludicrous.

Get back to your evening wankathon session.

Say no to hairy herberts who can't sing! Here's some real music with profound lyrics. As a bonus, wicked riffs performed by Uncle Bulgaria.

Judas Priest was the first ever band I saw. They were supporting Cardiff's own Budgie at Barry Memorial Hall and it was the avian combo that I went to see. Anyway, enough of that old tosh....

How about this for prophetic lyrics in the late seventies from another Cardiff band i.e. Lone Star

    The Bells of Berlin (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asM8683vfzM)

I can hear the bells ringing and echoing over Berlin
Feel the emotion and sadness that now is within
As the city stands so tall
    It's imprisoned behind the wall
    One day it must fall
Over and over I ask myself is this a dream
I can hardly imagine the sadness the city has seen
    There will come a day
When the chains will fall away
    I can feel sadness
    I can feel joy
    Between the two i'm torn

Day by day now, I can hear people sing
    Life must go on
    Till the city's reborn again
    Oh oh
The bells that are ringing are calling you
Sure I'll be watching the world go by
    Search for an answer
    There's one to be found
Though that it seems that it's miles away
    Its here on the ground

Brilliant song, brilliant lyrics & a brilliant Band
Not seen Kenny about the local scene for a while but I think he still does a bit
Tony Smith still doing it, fronting up a great covers band called the daggers
I have a video of them (Kenny & Tony) doing a song in the Claude on YouTube

    Very true

    Just between us

I think it's time to recognise

The spaces inbetween ......leave room .....for you and I to grow

Living on a lighted stage approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
    In touch with some reality
    Beyond the gilded cage
    ill equipped to act
    With insufficient tact
    One must put up barriers
    To keep oneself intact

Sorry, but I can't take Anvil seriously after seeing them support Motorhead at St Davids Hall in 83. Lips pulling out a diddo to play the guitar with, and all the teenybobber headbangers, headbanging away at the front, wetting their jeans! The word pathetic sprang to mind. Sludgey I seem to remember you saying that you were on of those teenbopper 'bangers, eh?

I was one of those head bangers and ANVIL blew motorhead off the stage

Brian Robertson was on guitar for motorhead and he was pissed off his head

ANVIL were and always will be metal gods , behind that dildo lies a lyrical genius

Brian Robertson, class guitarist and great with Lizzy. Out of place in Motorhead, that's fo' sure.

I would have taken Anvil seriously, but that act of inane immaturity means I can but laugh at them, and never have taken them seriously since that moment
