    Brentford - academy

Didn’t realise Brentford scrapped their academy in 2016.

They have a B team instead. They sign 17-20 year olds and forget about the kids.

Did it because the London teams were nicking all the best kids.

They arrange fixtures for the B team against whoever they fancy across Europe.

    Interesting

They can decide on the opposition, the style they play, quality and tactics to suit their needs, sounds like a good idea as opposed to the identikit style of football that the u23 system seems to deliver. Young players need real time competitive football matches against footballers with experience and who know all of the tricks, the opposition doesn't have to be that technically gifted all of the time.

They invested a bit in recruitment , I guess they wanted to maximize their strengths. And any world class kids they happened to develop would get poached
