    "Champagne Socialism"

The man is 78, worth an estimated $2m and had the cheek to buy a holiday home in 2017.

He's been playing at being a democratic socialist for 50 years and he became a millionaire in his 70s according to reports.

I have to ask, as you don't seem to have a good opinion of him, what issues do you have with Bernie Sanders exactly? Do you know what any of his policies are?

I'd be very happy to keep this conversation about the topic, remain civil and not take this piss if you're able to engage... but will you do that?

To be honest he seems a decent sort and probably has more scruples than the Trump , I just don't see him winning in a country like the USA , he's a fair better option than the corrupt Clinton's. . If mini Mike (Trump 2 ) runs I hope Bernie beats him ,but hey cash talks out West so Republican, Democrat, Independent Rich Mike , is likely to see it through .

Not being able to "see him winning" seems like a poor excuse for calling him a champagne socialist and the like. Whether he can win or not, he's obviously got more scruples than Trump and cares about the people in America, not just himself. His policies will help the poor, the vulnerable, and, with his 'Medicare for All' policy, every single American who is getting f**ked over by their insane insurance-driven health system.

Sanders' politics may be too 'socialist' for some, but Trump's politics are whatever is best for Trump. I know which one I'd prefer.

American voters are a strange lot , you'd think the majority who are probably in need of Medicare would be storming the ballot boxes to get a socialist into the Whitehouse. Trouble is the Democrats are not really socialists.

Thank god we have a dedication to our healthcare.

Trump fawns over Xi and Kim Jong-Un.
Sanders doesn't fawn over any communist dictator.

Yet the narrative is that Sanders is the commie. Fair play, they know how to manipulate people. It really works.

Literally nobody who supports Trump would accept that.

Sanders is the best of the bunch in the Democratic race - but although he describes himself as a democratic socialist, and his political enemies (Trumpers, Republicans, the some in the Democrats' party machine) describe him as a communist, he is really just a mainstream social democrat in European terms.

Nancy Pelosi has come out this week to say she would happily work with him if he wins the nomination and that says a lot about Bernie's threat to the political/financial establishment in the USA. His policies are progressive and mildly redistributive, but not anti-capitalist at all, and in some ways mirror Trump's 2016 appeal to rust belt voters.

If he does get the nomination the slander and vitriol against him will be ramped up. The treatment Corbyn got from a hostile media and political enemies (some of the most scandalous in the Parliamentary Labour Party) will be small change compared to what Sanders will face. However he does appear to be in a stronger position compared to Trump than Corbyn was compared to Johnson.

Bernie needs to distance himself from the current bunch of Democrats, maybe an election too early for Merica to embrace socialism, being loosely tied to Nanshy, Chuck, Nadler and Shitt does not help his campaign. He could possibly take a number of key Democrats friendly to socialism and who acknowledge the harm done by the mentioned and who want no part in their attempted coup, Bernie has a decent base to build on, and if he doesn't pull it off can set the ball rolling for someone like AOC to take it forward.

    .

It would be refreshing to see the USA embrace a change in politics . Not sure if it could afford all of his spending commitments, a few are in similar vain as Corbyn's ie free education and doubling of wages ,health care spend , taxes around wall street , all very admiral but at a massive cost for a country as big as the USA , in the end that is what did for Labour and the antisemitism of course .
