The US is a fantastic country to explore... I’ve spent time in the last 6 months in all of the Southern most states apart from New Mexico... The cultural diversity is something to behold... you either embrace it or judge it... I feel richer for embracing it
I agree, I've spent a lot of time there and have met some of the nicest and most intelligent people I've ever met. Actually never came across many people who were arse holes or weird but they are obviously out there.

I used to work for Cal-Dive, an American offshore company in the Gulf of Mexico, most of the Americans on board were 'local', from Louisiana, Alabama, Texas etc, I liked most of them, but found them very insular. We moved up for a job off Boston and, due to union rules, the company had to employ lots of local labour, the difference in the people was staggering, much more aware, far greater knowledge of politics, history, music, the fact that there are countries outside of the US etc. A real north/south divide.

Surely you can embrace it in some respects and judge it in others. The geography is stunning in parts and there are some cultural aspects that are appealing while there are other things such as health care and guns that are very unappealing and perverse.

Judging or embracing is everyone’s prerogative of course. My choice is to embrace it (perhaps better words would have been respect it)... I’m not American, and I don’t live there but as with everything there are opposing perspectives present. I have my own set of values ... they’ve changed over time, but I try not to impose them... happy for people to take me as I am (good or bad)

Let's break it down for you.

The only reason that you would post something from mainstream news would be that you have something to discredit it. The faux tears would also try to ensnare someone saying how heartless you are before the matador administers the coup de gras.

You are trying too hard so it becomes obvious what you are up to. Your back catalogue should be enough for people to understand your mentality we don't need regular reminders!

Are you trying to tell me that even CBS are part of the Fake News media? I thought it was only the media outlets who you regularly quote from. Oh well, another one to add to the list!

This made me genuinely gasp, let's all hope it is a complete load of rubbish.

Edit/ I don't think it has taken into account our increase in ICU capacity with the temporary hospitals.

It's also predicting us to be far worse than Italy, Spain and France which doesn't 'feel' likely but who knows really..

I agree, the spike in death figures today was the same as the last 2 tuesday as weekend figures 'catch up' and they people who crunch the numbers seem to see cause for optimism. Lets hope they're correct.

It's not the actual figures, but the trend, that is important. It is predicting a peak in the death rate in 10 days time. It is also predicting a peak in resource use in 10 days time.

It's the Murray model popularised by Dr Birx and so far it has been way off.
