Pubs, clubs, theatres, restaurants etc to close tonight

    Says Boris

"We are telling cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants to close tonight as soon as they reasonably can and not reopen tomorrow."

Places like nightclubs, cinemas and gyms will also follow suit.

Business will no pay no VAT this 1/4 to aid cash flow (but they have to pay it by end of financial year)

Have a child with special needs, at a special needs school.

Whilst that's meant to be open, conveniently it seems all staff decided to self-isolate on the same day.

Or maybe they are at risk or their families are?

This quarter is the end of the financial year - I presume they mean next year.

At any more risk than the children? Or the children's families?

Such schools are exempt for a reason. I highly doubt virtually every staff member suddenly realised they were at risk on exactly the same day.

    It is what it is.

Current think is they are. Covid19 seems to affect adults worse than children.

50% of the staff were off from my kids school (where my wife teaches). Thats because one of the teachers is a confirmed case along with another of his family members. Their head was taking temperatures and sending people home along with pregnant members of staff.

Even those that wanted to stay were told to self isolate.

i go with my son to the pool 2 /3 times a week. we use the time for chatting nonsense about football, tv, food etc.

This week numbers diminished each time. Today we were the only ones in for a while.

No more of that now. so outdoor activities next. forest walks and country parks.

How does this work in practice? We’ve been put on a 4-day week (80% of salary). Can my employer now lay-us off, take us back on again and get the government to pay our reduced wages (up to the maximum caps announced)?
