Can anyone recommend a good gardening book

My father, recently retired has shown an interest in gardening, and I would like to get him a 'gardening for dummies' style book.

We have space to dig out a veg patch, but he will need guidance in very basics, what to plant, when and where.

he is not computer literate, so social media / youtube ect will be no good.

The book, Geoff Hamilton's Practical Gardening Course, would be good.
    Loads of pictures and advice.

Later, he might like my favourite gardening book: The Principles of Gardening by Hugh Johnson
