    No film has ever really captured the horrific nature of stalingrad

    I think cross of iron is a great film about the retreating german forces getting a leathering from the red army but it's not specific to stalingrad which was of course earlier than the time cross of iron was set

    Why did Britain get involved in WW2? It wasn't as if we were threatened by the Nazis when we declared war. German targets were further east at the time.

    There are two theories , one good old blighty wasnt going to see a close european neighbour in poland get turned over , two intelligence correctly informed the powers that be that hitler was indeed a madman and wanted Britain's scalp too

    Either way the effort put in by britain to stifle the nazis was heroic both at home in the factories and those brave men who lost their lives fighting them in the air and on land
