I must admit your spelling of pray as prey amuses me, makes me think of pervy priests not bothering about which way it’s spelt

    we have 2 X 7" and a 8" and they work well

We actually did have a 10"er but found it too big, its a beast, ooooh eeeer mrs

I honestly find them great, they are cheap enough (especially on black friday sales ) that if they last 2 years they have paid for themselves

Personally i think for user friendliness you cannot beat the ipad, though as you say, the samsung has made massive strides to catch up

as user friendly tablets go, the HP Touchpad Tablet was the best i have every used, it had a HP specific OS, called HPwebOS, it was fast, smooth and nothing ever went wrong, the trouble was, it wasnt a iPad or a Android Device and app makers never quite picked up on it and started to Develop apps for it, The screen was the best Ive every seen, the thing was a world beater in every way, apart from people were not making apps for it, so HP ditched it and it was sold for £90 in the UK ( down from £400 ish, so it was ipad money ) , a massive shame, when i moved house i found mine in its case up the loft, Ive kept it as i couldnt bare to skip it

Well I was told the life of tablets is generally about three years anyway so for 150 quid on the black friday deals I couldn't be happier with the samsung , I just prefer android to Ipad

I had a tesco hudl 8 inch for years , if they had made a ten inch and kept upgrading it they would have cornered the budget tablet market but the idiots just pulled out

agreed, the HUDL was great, we all had them in our house ( will still be in a box somewhere ), we all used to play " clash of the clans " on them, We got them for Christmas pressies with the 4X tesco clubcard points, infact also during our move i found a jiffi with HUDL power ports in them, They used to always break ( they were the port you plugged the charger into ) as they were weak as hell, I used to replace them, had a listing on ebay for replacement , i could do them in 15 mins, used to charge 25 quid, which was 4 quid for postage, 3 quid for the port and 18 quid profit, never going to make me rich, but i loved wheeling and dealing

A life of only 3 years? Is that right? My iPad is coming up to 7 years and still does all I want (although not enough memory so can no longer sync to cloud for new photos etc) but I have noticed that I need to reboot it more often when it freezes (maybe once a month).

The 3 year lifespan was thought that was how long it was till the latest apps didnt work on / struggled to run on it

iOS have recommended iOS to run
Andriod have the same, i know my older android stuff will not touch todays app's, this they get replaced, i use the barnes and noble to load films onto, then when we do a long trip we have films to watch

of course if you are just using it surf the net / check e.mails / specific specialist apps, then what worked 7 years ago will still work fine

I've recently bought a Huawei T5 MediaPad, after not a lot of use I'm very impressed - basically a 10" version of their phones.

I used to use a " no signal " iphone 6 PLUS as a tablet, it has a 5 and 1/2 " screen, i used it as my camera and entertainment device for over 2 years, it was the best of both worlds, it only died when i was using it as a sat nav in florida, left it in the dash holder while we popped into walmart and the battery got so hot the battery ballooned and killed the phone

i think a 5 and 1/2 " screen is great for apps and a bit of a entertainment device, small enough to sling in a jacket pocket but a big enough screen to enjoy the apps
