World XI team - with a few rules to get you thinking

It seems all the various Sports channels are producing their own “Best of….” lists in some shape or form …. even various websites

So, how about this one :

A world XI football team ……….. where the rules are:
    1. A “cut-off” at 1970….. so the player must have been playing since that date (ie Stan Matthews would be invalid)
    2. The player must have been “capped” by his country
    3. No nationality can be repeated
    4. No “club” can be repeated (ie you cannot have both Joe Ledley and Stilian Petrov in the team as both played at Celtic in their careers)
    5. To keep it simple, formation can be 4-4-2 or 4-3-3

    To start you off
Buffon (Italy – Parma, Juventus, PSG)

Dunga (Brazil - Internacional, Corinthians, Santos, Vasco da Gama, Pisa, Fiorentina, Pescara, VfB Stuttgart, Jubilo Iwata)
Sergio Ramos (Spain – Sevilla, Real Madrid)
Beckenbauer (Germany – Bayern Munich, New York Cosmos, Hamburg SV)
Pat Rice (N. Ireland – Arsenal, Waford)

Ryan Giggs (Wales – Man Utd)
Kante (France – Boulogne, Caen, Leicester, Chelsea)
Kazimierz Deyna (Poland – LKS Lodz, Legia, Man City, San Diego Sockers)

    Messi (Argentina – Barcelona)
Shearer (England – Southampton, Blackburn, Newcastle)
Jimmy Johnstone (Scotland – Celtic, San Jose Earthquakes, Sheff Utd, Dundee)

Eddie Johnson's inclusion looking less likely with these rules.

Just realised, if you’re playing this as a best 11, where’s John Charles ????

He was still playing in YOUR 70’s cut off !!!!

Not that I’d include him but Stanley Matthews was still kicking a ball about in Africa as well if I recall.

i'm not saying it has to be a "Best of..." merely a World XI within the parameters set out.

Why 1970 ? no specific reason, but I thought readers are most likely to know of, and relate to players from then onwards, as opposed to players from the 1920's, 1930's etc.

Just been pointed out Yashin played in 1970, although his international career was over years before and the same applies to John Charles, so both are in my team.
