Thread: Could dimming the sun save the Earth?

Could dimming the sun save the Earth?

The plan sounds like science fiction — but could be fact within a decade; every day more than 800 giant aircraft would lift millions of tonnes of chalk dust to a height of 12 miles above the Earth's surface and then sprinkle the lot high around the stratosphere.

In theory, the airborne dust would create a gigantic sunshade, reflecting some of the Sun's rays and heat back into space, dimming those that get through and so protecting Earth from the worsening ravages of climate warming.

Wouldn't it be easier to block the sun the other way around buy driving big fast gas guzzling cars too create large smogs over our major cities , supplemented by eating copious amounts of beef and farting previously, along with the increased population of supersized cattle equally farting this would create a huge canopy of smog to save us from the sun ?

    It's utter nonsense.

800 aircraft a day. Millions of tonnes of chalk. It's not feasible long term, plus if governments aren't prepared to help the most needy adequately, where's the money going to come from to pay for this? Business? If they can afford it, they can pay tax properly.

To save the planet we must erode the earth and pollute the atmosphere-Business as usual then.

    Pray for poor Greta.

This virus has taken away her publicity, don't the Chinese know she's got a brand to build up?

I don't like Greta or the Chinese propaganda machines

Of course not. There needs to be a real concerted effort to save our environment. For me, dumping tonnes of chalk above the atmosphere gives those who enjoy polluting our atmosphere further licence to keep doing so.

12 miles up does not reach the stratosphere. A completely impractical idea. Better off installing more solar panels for micro generation of solar power and reducing reliance on fossil fuels/centralised energy production and distribution. The sun wins over the Daily Mail.

You have to ask why an article from August 2019 suddenly pops up on the main board. The answer of course is that it has been resurrected in the usual conspiracy nests in Twitter, Reddit and Facebook.

Gates is currently conspiracist flavour of the month. You will see people like Organ Morgan talk about the Georgia Guidestones and globalist plans to get world population down to 500 million. Last week it was Gates and Covid-19 vaccines delivering the outcome. This week it's space dust.

The reality, as usual, is far more mundane. There is a $3m Harvard experiment whose aim is to use a balloon to test the effects which is yet to "get off the ground" so to speak.

    https://projects.iq.harvard.edu/keutschgroup/scopex

It is funded jointly by Havard University internal research funds and its Solar GeoEngineering Research Programme. The latter is funded by 26 listed donors, one of which is Bill Gates.

If i was you I would just let fools play join the dots thinking they are blessed with insight and get on with life as best you can in the current circumstances.

You're trying too hard mate, are you a paid shill or something? You spent 3 years misinforming everybody about your Russia collusion hoax, and now here you go again telling everybody what they should be thinking. What are you really up to, cyril?

Look, an argument is an intellectual process of elimination, a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition...
