Thread: Social distancing

    Social distancing

You can’t go to the beach but you can go to B&Q

You can’t see your family but you can have a big street party

You can’t go to work but you can chill in various public open spaces

You can’t go to the pub but you can go to the shop each day for booze.

Stay safe, as long as it fits your own narrative

    Re: Social distancing

With Google keeping tab on everything I do, they sent me an update yesterday. It had tracked my movements through April and told me the highlight was going to Lidl Pontypridd!! At least it shows I,ve adhered to the essential travelling!

But, despite its imperfections, it is saving lives.

Totally agree with you CCFCC3PO. Not being able to go to the beach or the pub should be of no consequence if it helps save lives.

How do you take advantage of it? I worked from home for a couple of weeks. Then I got furloughed. No pay, but I still have health benefits. For now. I have no choice in the matter.

The thing is you shouldn’t be doing any of that. But it does spread a lot easier inside than outside.

I thought the company decides if people are furloughed not the individual.

It is a relaxed lockdown, should have been earlier and more draconian at first. We’d have been grateful then for gradual easing. If the things you’re saying should be allowed were allowed God knows what our death toll would be.

Yes I’m referring to the companies when talking about people taking advantage of the system

As for the lazy bastards on furlough (not all) they are the ones making the most noise to get furlough extended. No travelling to work, nothing to spend their money on they are better off sitting in the house on the their arse.

They were arguing in work with us over who wanted to go on furlough. Makes me sick. They won’t be so clever when redundancies come around though.

Self employed people are also on furlough and still working so quids in too.

If you know these self-employed people working whilst on furlough, do the decent thing and report them.

I live in Merthyr not Henley on Thames. Grassing is frowned upon up here.

The way I read it self employed people are allowed to work and claim the financial help, what you receive from the government will then be treated as income and deductions made accordingly. That’s how it seems to me anyway.

Swedes have turned social distancing into social gathering. They are determined to spread the virus as best they can.
The square today that is full of bars was packed with people. Families kissing and hugging, three generations.

The people who made the rules didn't appear to take them that seriously.
They have been visiting second homes , parents living miles away.

    Re: Social distancing

Lockdowns Saves Lives. That should be the simple message repeated ad infinitum.

I'm hoping against hope our Boris announces tougher rather than looser lockdown measures when he speaks later on.

The COVID-19 fear factor is diminishing at an alarming rate. Boris ought to make the wearing of masks mandatory in public places throughout England then pressure Drakeford in Wales and Sturgeon in Scotland to follow suit. Double the length of social distancing to four metres too.
