Thread: I see Keir Starmer is a trained musician

I see Keir Starmer is a trained musician

Guildhall graduate who can play piano, flute and recorder. So, when someone tells him to go and whistle, he can. Accurately. And ask "But in what key?"

As a recorder player, I hope he doesn't leave a legacy of baroquen promises.

It's because his public school upbringing exposed him to too much sax and violins

I've worked in a factory for 33 years.
I've heard every put down you could possibly hear.

Are you referring to Boris or Starmer as both attended public schools with neither parents paying a dime?

Sax and violins? That's no way for anyone to conduct themselves.

I believe Kier's school became wholly fee paying whilst he was there.
    But I suppose Oxford
    wasn't cheap.

As the school in question is literally a few minutes walk from where I live this confused me too as it is very much not a state school now. But, yes, you're right - it changed while he was there.

Reigate Grammar became an independent fee paying school in 1976 when Starmer was there. As regards the Oxford comment above I'm sure when Boris was there it was not fee paying and of course he attended Eton on a scholarship. Just seen Starmer on PMs questions; he is an impressive performer. And that is what is important. Boris, for all his education, is a bumbler and is not good at answering forensic questions.

Kier should be impressive, he is a trained and very skillful advocate. Clearly Oxford is not fee paying for UK undergraduates but I think living there is and the government grant and/or student loans would struggle to cover all it costs. Also he went there on a post graduate course so I don't know what if anything that may cost. no idea. But he did it and has excellent qualifications and good experience.
