Thread: Refs, footballers.

    Refs, footballers.

Picking up the ball and returning it to centre spot after you've scored a goal and are still losing/drawing: is it worth a damn? Do refs stop their watches when the ball goes in the net? Actually, how does one ref a game timewise? What sort of watch do you use? What are the timekeeping protocols?

If the celebration goes on a bit then i reckon the ref will add a bit of time. Some players do it in order to play up to the fans, look at me, i really care. David Platt was a bit of a twat for it.

    Psychological mind games.
Gets your own side up for it whilst hopefully creates nervousness in the opposition.

Probably better to return the ball straight to the centre spot after scoring and still losing or drawing (and wanting to win) than leave the opposition do it.

    Agree. In a word, "momentum"
