Lovely poem. Not sure if it's Spanish or not? Sadly 16 years later Spain was embroiled in a civil war, which was persecutor to the 2nd WW. General Franco and his fascist Falange party aided and abetted by the Nazis trampling all over the working class, socialists and anarchists. I can thoroughly recommend George Orwell's (surely the best ever British author?) take on the war, in his 'Homage To Catalonia'.
