Sensible drinking reminds me of old Russians. The do not understand sensible drinking in any way. Their attitude is that the purpose of drinking is to get drunk so if you don't intend to get drunk then there is no point in starting.

With your kids i said, if people want to be pissed around their kids then that's up to them. I don't like it as i think that it's a bad example, but that's just my opinion.

I always used to like getting my elders a cold one from the fridge. Doubt it does any harm.

Depends how old the kids are I suppose.

We let our 15 going on 16 year old have a cocktail or two from a can on the weekend. Imposing strict restrictions on her is likely to see her get pissed behind our backs anyway.

Like i said, each to their own. It's something i would never ask a child of mine to do.

It seems ok to be a bit of a piss artist

But if you are a bit of a drug user you are a junkie

I have always found that very odd

I would rather be sitting in a room with someone who has done acid than with someone who has had 6 cans of stella

The conversations certainly more interesting and they are unlikely to become violent

I let my youngest daughter flip the top of a bottle for me. I draw the line at letting her have a line though.

Someone dropping the odd trip of acid is not a junkie.

You're the parent, you do as you see fit, everyone is different. I don't drink and when i did i didn't have any alcohol in the house. I've got three kids, two are adults, one doesn't touch alcohol and the other has the occasional drink on a night out. Good as far as i'm concerned, although i'd never tell them how to live their lives.

I wouldn't ask my son as I don't think it's the thing to do.

I wouldn't ask my wife as I value my testicles.

And thus we need to pray for those that get leathered every weekend and often a couple of times during the week

I've always been if the same opinion, won't go in the local "just for 1 or 2' as I think a drink is a drink and I'll always have more, don't drink in the house either as it goes.
I'd never voluntarily have the odd couple, but I have been awkwardly positioned in such a scenario.. "oh only the 2 is it mate that box for Xmas is it" I'd rather not have the alcohol, and it's not a macho thing, I just don't see the point.

But we're all human and I definitely see the thinking behind Matt's opinion, nothing wrong with a cold pint to end the day.
**** all wrong with your kids pouring drinks either.
