I've never really enjoyed festivals. And I'd always rather see a band indoors than out. I've some good gigs at the top rank and even Sophia Gardens. Saw the Ramones in Bristol. Jane's Addiction too. I saw Oasis on their first US tour at a 125 capacity venue. I've seen PJ Harvey in an even smaller room. I've seen the Brian Jonestown Massacre in the same room and I saw Fat White Family play their first ever show in the US, that was pretty memorable.
Been to various retro festivals too and Two Thousand Trees each year where we get free tickets.
Just googled it. 1988. £5.50 at the door.
Best ever gig? No question - Iggy Pop. Unbelievable.
Runners up - Ramones, Costello, Pixies, Rezillos, Morrissey, REM.
In the 70s and 80s, it felt like there was a gig to see almost every week, and I went to most of them.
