How do you write this at 18:
Across the evening sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can they know it's time for them to go?
Before the winter fire, I will still be dreaming
I have no thought of time
For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving
Ah, but then you know it's time for them to go
But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving
I do not count the time
For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
And I am not alone…
Saw her at the old Cory Hall, opposite Queen's St railway station in the early 1970's. What a fantastic concert it was. The Cory Hall has sadly long since been pulled down. It was a really good venue.
One of her lesser known contributions here; she plays piano and sings on verses 2 & 3.

Hi again, Sludge,
One of my memories of the concert at the Cory Hall was of Sandy swigging a green bottle of Gordon's gin whilst tuning her guitar. After about 30 seconds of this the Richard Thompson, who was in her band said, "Sandy, I think its tuned right now." Her voice was beautiful throughout the concert.
That same Richard Thompson sings on this track, starting at about 8 mins, a lovely ditty about King Henry. Hope you like it.

Unhalfbricking Fairport Convention well worth a listen. The classic Fairport line up and a classic album.
Closely followed by Liege and Leaf.
1969 bloody hell.
And of course one of the greatest songs featured Sandy and Mr Plant , the video states she was the only female to feature on a Zeppelin track :
Battle Of Evermore anyone ????

Funnily enough, I also saw Pentangle at the Cory Hall in Cardiff. The track, 'Light Flight,' (at 11:30) was the theme song for a BBC tv drama series way back in the day. Again, excellent musicians.

Pentangle were a really talented outfit, John Renbourn and Bert Jansch were excellent guitarists. I saw them In Caerphilly Grammar School (now St Martins ?) in 1969 where they were playing as part of a Caerphilly Arts Festival.
I really liked the Cory Hall as a venue. I remember seeing Tom Paxton there in about 1970. It was a great shame it was demolished
At the beginning of 1977, Denny found out she was pregnant. ... Georgia Rose MacLean was born on July 12 ,1977, three months premature. She was kept in an incubator in hospital for two months, effectively to be detoxed. Denny was no more able to look after her baby when she at last took her home
Sandy Denny: Who Knows Where the Time Goes?
Here is a studio recording, from Sept 11th 1973 for the BBC Radio 1 show, “Sounds of the Seventies,” hosted by John Peel. It was broadcast in the UK on FM Stereo on 25 Sept 25th 1973.

Here is probably the earliest recording of the song, dated from 1967 when she is backed by, The Strawbs. Interestingly the first line starts, 'Across the purple sky ... ' and not, 'Across the evening sky ..'

The only cover that I know which comes anywhere near Sandy's rendition is by Eva Cassidy:

And another close second from Nina Simone ...

RIP Sandy & Eva.
May your memories be a blessing.
PS: For those interested, Sandy's daughter kept a Facebook page about her mother's work.
