Thread: Cleaning bricks on the back of an old fireplace.

  1. #1

Cleaning bricks on the back of an old fireplace.

Has anyone had success with doing in this in the past?

I've recently uncovered a fireplace in my house which is in relatively good nick, but the back of the fireplace has really stubborn creosote on it.

    Cheers.

It's Tar, usually comes from burning wood, and it's probably caked in the chimney flue. There are products out there that you spray on and it softens the tar, making it easier to clean, although it's a messy job. I've done it once and that was enough.

I know exactly who that is because I listen to 5 Live all day long on a Friday.
