The Football Association of Wales (FAW) are delighted to announce the appointment of Gemma Grainger as the Cymru Women’s National Team Manager on a 4-year contract.

Grainger has spent eleven years working with the England age group setup, as head coach of teams from the WU15 through to the WU23 groups. A UEFA Pro Licence holder, Grainger has managed more than 90 international matches and was part of England’s coaching staff for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 competition, where England reached the semi-finals.

The new era for Cymru under Grainger begins in April when the side host two friendly fixtures against Canada (9 April) and Denmark (13 April). The draw for 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying follows on 30 April ahead of the opening round of games in September.
    Good luck/pob lwc to her

Good stuff. Why did that article have to say that some Welsh fans would be pissed off because she is English. It always seems to come up within the media, Parochial bullshit and very lazy to suggest anyone would give a shit where she was born.

Don't know. Once they're not Welsh it's all much a muchness, unless they're going to push disastrous team GB nonsense. Don't think it's a focus of even that paragraph though as it swiftly moves on.

Must admit I didn't know who Gemma was so was glad for the introduction articles.

I suspect there'd be more football fans who couldn't care less women's football than about her being English.
