Weve scored 3 today and won.
More than happy.
I'm confused by the word "if " in the OP
My post was genuinely not a criticism of the team in any way it was a genuine question on if we are to play effectively for set pieces as it seemed today, how do we maximise that and get the percentages in our favour
Our issue is not the scoring from the set pieces but getting into an attacking position to get them. Why not cut out the middle man and go route one rather than fanny about.
The Lone Gunman used to have a blog entitled shooting from the lip . It was mildly entertaining , as he is but the little fella was dead right when he delivered a fatal blow to all those moaning to get Ridsdale out.
His conclusion was the same as mine regarding CCFC as it stands
If my aunty had bollocks she would be my uncle
It is what it is
If we had a thriving youth system , if we had a squad full of skillful footballers and we had a bucket load to spend we MIGHT be playing great football
But we don't
It is what it is
We have a wiley old manager who is it seems doing his best to get the most out of a squad he has inherited
And the football is far from perfect
Critisise away , cry out for a creative dynamic midfield , yearn for play to be built from the back
But at the end of the day we are 6th and the points are on the board
You can play entertaining football week in week out but if you are near the foot of the table ask yourself if you think Cardiff City in league one , the old division 3 , is an entertaining thought.
Bluebirds
We can win lose or draw playing both ways. As someone else pointed out, the football we play becomes easier to play against the higher up we go...
Also, with the money seemingly mot as free to throw about on player signings like it used to be don't you think we need to keep the kids coming through the youth system? It's more sustainable than always having to sign players, players that are likely on more wages than players we produce ourselves.
The way our first team aynis hardly attractive to younger players coming through, and more and more of them will choose to not play for Cardiff if they're going to be bypassed in games because the ball is hoofed over their heads.
Its not just about winning, it's about surviving and being self sufficient
Yes I spent 50 odd years happy to win with a ball in off someone's arse, especially in the long lower division years. But the call for better performance is so that we can continue to win , even against better teams in this division or if promoted .
They aren't mutually exclusive
Don't watch it then
We'd all like to see us playing like Brazil but it's not going to happen anytime soon.
It would take a lot of money and at least 3 seasons to change us into a free flowing team.
People say that they would take a few mid table finishes to change our style but it would more than likely end in relegation with 2 years.
Look at what happened when Trollope tried to do it.
And as Sunderland are finding out its not easy to get back into the championship.
It took us nearly 20 years to get back after the last time we were relegated from this division
It's not pretty but it's effective and it's my team which I'm proud to support.
You should try it sometime.
Good god, it’s not just me then. You are wasting your time, unfortunately, as I have discovered you will be hunted mercilessly and ridiculed by the CCMB ‘mafia’ for daring to post something positive and disagree with their opinion. Good on you though. You have clearly expressed what I feel about City as well.
I want to see entertaining football but I know it isn't going to happen anytime soon. I enjoy it when we win and get fed up with the crap I have to watch most weeks whether we win or lose.
None of that is going to stop me watching every week. I just get depressed when I think about what will happen if we get promoted again, another season of inevitable relegation (although I did enjoy that win at home to Man City and the one away to Man United).
Your attempt at a smart arse would be OK if there were any big words in there and the post wasn't age 8 reading standard.
The mere fact I am able to type proficiently in English and read your post to be able to dismiss it with a laugh should tell you I understood it.
Just because I chose not to reply, does bit mean I didn't read it.
Your reply of "don't go then" and in another reply "not proper fans" tells me enough about your intellectual level.
I'm watching SEALS now, eating a calzone, that's a folded up pizza for the uncultured among us.
