I hope they don’t over do it with the ex players. Just get the best people for the job. If that’s Darren Purse then great, as a player he was brilliant for us. Has he been coaching elsewhere?

    From wikipedia

In July 2014 he helped to set up the Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton, and was appointed director of football.[80] He was appointed as under-16 coach at Oxford United in April 2018.

I hope he does well, always a good character. I would always notice at the awards night when the other players had buggered off as soon as they could he would be around until the end having pictures and signings autographs.

    Re: Darren Purse

    Very happy with this.

When I was living in Cowbridge he brought his son along to train with the town's under-10's and would stay to watch, whilst inevitably chatting to other dads who were keen to talk to him.

Straightforward, sensible and displayed a nice touch with the youngsters, understanding they weren't all destined for stardom.

Seems he's had some coaching experience since then so good luck to him, I don't think he'll need it.

I wonder how his appointment came about, does he still live in the Vale?
