Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison

On the club website now - I really don’t think he’s doing himself any favours with the way he goes about them.

I'm sure I saw a think bubble appear with the word "Idiots" on several occasions. Perhaps a role as an assistant manager somewhere would suit our cockney curmudgeon; then he won't have to talk to so many people.

    (I realise he's technically not a cockney).

Love the reference to Curmudgeon - ironic given the numbers of Curmudgeon on this board

The journalists must hate him, if Warnock or McCarthy snapped at them for doing their job by asking simple questions like will Sean Morrison play this week then I'm sure they wouldn't like it but at least those two have been around and earned their stripes. Morison's been a manager for 2 months and has an average points haul of 1 per match with 2 goals conceded

I remember when he took over he said something along the lines of Tom Ramasut being more comfortable coaching so Morison would do the media stuff as he'd be better suited. Somehow I don't think Ramasut would have dealt with the media so poorly

What I don't understand is people calling this stuff "refreshing" or "honest", he's just being rude especially considering he's had a pretty easy ride from the press, they could be a lot more vicious and I wouldn't blame them with the way he speaks to them.

That was such a weird response, he'd snapped at Philips earlier for asking questions about transfers and not the game as well. What do you want him to ask about then Steve?

    Massively out of his depth.

I really want to like him, but he's too busy burning a reputation he hasn't earned yet. Thrown into a tricky situation nqat. But he's acting like he's got mourinho's CV.

My main advice on careers is: try to smile as much as possible. There are countless people in the world better equipped to do the job you are getting paid for, but if you smile a lot and people like you doing the job they tend to be forgiving when you mess it up. Which we all do, quite often. Plus life is short and walking around being Mr serious is just a bit silly.

We're a gnats dick away from a major flounce out of the press conference. Personally, I think they'll goad him soon just so they can get the story, which will be much more interesting to write than anything on the pitch.

It certainly won't take much considering how he reacts to standard questions

A Steve Morison press conference is like being on the set of a Guy Ritchie film. I half expect him to pull out a sawn-off shotgun!

His ego is far bigger than his ability.

I don't think that it was particularly Prickly. He got a bit arsey about his three at the back, but that was about it in my opinion.

I read the comments on here before watching the press conference was expecting a series of Roy Keane-like rants.

He does though have a lot to learn as a first team manager in front of the press and they will sure know what buttons to press in future chats.

He did seem pretty relaxed about things though but ultimately results will seal his fate.
    HUGE game on Sunday!

OK, full disclosure. I haven't watched this week's (but I have seen all the others) and I'm just stirring the pot a bit because let's face it, the football's sh*t this season and anything and everything else not on the park is a welcome distraction.

I kind of like the idea of journalists walking on eggshells with him though. It's a Millwall and Cardiff tinderbox of a potential meltdown. Spicey!

He really didn't like that question about Morrison .

The 3 at the back question and he response is just weird. He can't understand why fans are annoyed we're shipping 2 goals a game. Calling criticism of it "nonsense". Pathetic. I'm all for having confidence in what you're doing but when it really isn't working, or could at the very least to be improved, to be that arrogant is just odd and slightly concerning.

Good grief are you sure you think that?

Don't agree Tuerto. For me, based on the way he is willing to give up his own time to help out organisations like the City Supporters' Trust, Rob Phillips is one of life's good guys and, true to his nature, he tried a bit of a light hearted approach at the first two briefings with Morison where he asked questions. He got blanked by our manager both times as Morison gave him very short shrift and yesterday, he rounded on him for asking questions about possible signings before the transfer window closes - what on earth was he expecting to be asked about three days before deadline day?

As it turns out, I tend to be on Morison's side when it comes to three at the back - he's certainly right when he says he inherited a squad lacking natural width and my own view is that our specialist defenders have been so poor this season that converting to a back four won't make much difference to that.

However, when a team is, laughably, coming up towards a six month anniversary since they kept a clean sheet and our number one keeper is a week short of a year without one (and that was in a match he went off after ten minutes in!), then it's entirely reasonable to ask whether or not a change in defensive formation may be needed - people who think that are certainly not idiots and deserve better than the disdain our manager clearly has for them.

I like what Morison is trying to do in terms of how we play, but he seems to be struggling lately and his attitude in media engagements in particular has me beginning to hope that we look elsewhere in the summer.

Its another question mark hanging over his ability to make the step up in my view
Turning on the youngsters was the start, and maybe the pressure or the task is just too big a step at this time in his career.
If I were a betting man, my money wouldn't be on him being here in that role past May, unless he can put a half decent run of results and performances together
