Think you are doing a disservice to the Germans, widely accepted they had excellent troops in both world wars but were outmanned in WW2 and hamstrung with a dying Austro/Hungarian empire in WW1, The Italians on the other hand

Clubs named 'Dynamo' always remind me of the BBC Saturday morning programme, 'World Of Sport', hosted by Dickie Davis.
It was during the Cold War era, so coverage of teams behind the Iron Curtain was limited.
What sticks in my memory would be things like snow always seemed to be piled up around the ground, athletic tracks with the spectators a long way from the pitch, players wearing gloves, black & white multi-paneled balls and huge amounts of the crowd made up of soldiers wearing full-uniform.
