2003 European heatwave. Killed thousands. I was in France at the start the heatwave doing the Disney thing with the family. Years later I used it as a case study of a high pressure weather event when teaching weather and climate. Stats were appalling. Without looking it up, in UK alone, some 3000 heat related deaths.

Good on STFC for giving out free bottles of water last night. It did help with hydration. As their ticket scanners didn't work, we just flashed a ticket and walked in through the exit. Not legal to do that, apparently. Seemed to be more than the 260 Cardiff contingent that was announced.
