Bloody hell mate, sorry to hear that. As long as she's OK though. That's a scary experience.

Absolutely devastating but as long as she’s okay, that’s the most important thing! As much as it maybe inconvenient, cars can always be replaced.

    Glad to hear she's safe
    Any idea what caused it?

She said she smelt like a burning wire before they parked up.
Then loads of smoke then within seconds flames engulfed the car.
She is worried because there are cars either side of the car.
    What if they get damaged?

Guessing it would be covered by her insurance, she obviously can't be blamed for a fault she knew nothing about.
Hopefully it all works out ok and no major issues, thankfully she's alright.

Maybe tell her not to mention to her insurance company that she smelled burning. Just thinking they could use that to suggest she should have moved the car or reported it or something.

Generally electrical . Live cable goes to earth gets hot and catches fire .

Fuel plus spark. I would guess that a leaking fuel pipe dripped petrol onto the exhaust, or onto a live wire. This used to be common in older cars, and the new E10 fuel is already known to rot fuel lines.
Also, electrics under the dash can catch fire. Putting the wrong fuses in the holders can overload wires and cause heating, which melts insulation, causes sparks, etc.
Not that I'm saying that's what happened here - I have no idea. Glad everyone is okay.

just back from the one in Avonmouth, we were waiting 15 mins to get in the carpark ( mostly for the fuel station, the unleaded was 150 today ) but the car park was full ( had to drive around for a few mins to find a space ) loads of full trolleys, we did 235 quid on nothing, still cant work out that place, as you said, not sure many in that place were suffering a cost of living crisis

decent slice of pizza, ive heard people rave about them, it was decent enough, a 2 quid well spent and 95p for a refillable soda, at under a quid, I pushed the boat out and we didnt share

I saw the pictures BMW 1 series, it was a really big fire damaged the cars either side.

I hope she's OK and gets a fair payout from the insurer.
