Re: Niels Nkounkou Is Not Up To It

Apart from that one beautiful cross that Robinson just missed he was poor going forward yesterday. He gave away possession more than anyone else (and there was competition for that award).

But he was fantastic at Wigan.

He is inconsistent - like all the younger players in the squad (home grown or imports).

I don't know whether he can improve to the point where he is a reliable defender - maybe not but I hope so - but he is certainly a real talent, and when he gets it right is class.

At Wigan, he had O’Dowda with him for support, but due to Mark Hudson’s daft team selection, O’Dowda was looking after Campbell

Leave a winning team alone and don’t tinker

I wasn't particularly impressed by Campbell in pre season and was surprised to see him play yesterday. I thought both he and Nkounkou were pretty poor unfortunately

Too right, Tony. The side v Wigan was balanced in all areas. Why do managers feel the need to tinker?

Nkounkou's pretty good with the ball, it's when he gets caught that is an obvious concern.
I was more bothered by Hudson's subs yesterday, reminiscent of the DJ era. No plan, just chuck them on and hope for the best. Not what you want to see as a fan.

Because they forget their roots and turn into “PEP”

Nkonkou’s defending was still awful at Wigan Tony. Lost count of the times they got through down his side and he was turned like a parks player for their goal.
His positional play is hopeless and he seems to have his ankles on the wrong way around when ge tried a clearance.

I’m wondering what is wrong with Bagan

Hudson said a week or so back that Bagan was still getting over a minor injury:

Bagan and Sang back from injuries

Both Joel Bagan and Tom Sang are pushing for more first-team involvement after both players have recovered from injuries in recent weeks.

The fringe players might have expected more action in the first dozen games of the season, with Sang in particular standing out during pre-season.

However, minutes have been few and far between for both of them, but they are now fit and trying to work themselves into contention.

"We have a plan for everyone," Hudson said of the pair. "Joel was out with an injury. He is starting to push to come back in and around the first team, training. He is another player again playing with a smile on his face.

"Sangy had an ankle tweak a couple of weeks ago. He’s now pushing again. That’s all I can ask for. At the weekend though you can only pick 18."

I’m sure he played for the under 21s last week. So hopefully he’s almost there.

I thought Campbell actually defended alright, but didn't seem to know what to do with the ball when he had it. Maybe nervous on his league debut.
Nkounkou biggest issue was giving the ball away, which left him out of position and struggling to get back.

Re: Niels Nkounkou Is Not Up To It

Campbell is alright, apart from the fact he can't tackle, anticipate where the ball is , has no spacial awareness of players around him and can't pass a ball to someone wearing the same coloured shirt
    Other than that he's fine

Translation - Welcome to Cardiff City, Vontae. Sorry to write you off after your league debut for City and only your 14th professional appearance. You obviously didn't learn anything in the Arsenal and Leicester youth systems and are basically useless but enjoy your time here anyway.

14th professional appearance? Where do you get that from?

He made 10 appearances for Dundee last season. He started 5 of his first 6 games, being pulled off twice. Of Dundee's last 10 games as they hurtled towards relegation, he started 0, wasn't included in the squad on 1 occasion and failed to get of the bench 5 times. He contributed 68 minutes in Dundee's last 10 games and Dundee were glad to get rid of him.

Let's face it, Vontae Campbell was a cheap punt in the hope that his brief time at Arsenal and Leicester would have served him well. Leicester were more than happy to see him go. That doesn't do much to suggest we've got a big star in the making.

I think you need to get your facts right before you wade into someone else's post. Campbell played 3 times in the FA & League Cups for Leicester, including the full 90 minutes of the fifth round and he actually holds a FA Cup Winners medal. As you say he has 10 appearances for Dundee and then one for us in the cup earlier this season. Hang on, what’s 3+10+1 ? Well blow me down, its 14. Should have known that maths wouldn't be your strong point. Plus you totally missed the point of my post - I was pointing out that making a player out to be useless when he is only 21 and only has 14 professional appearances under is belt is a bit premature and harsh to say the least. When you say Dundee were glad to get rid of him, how do you know ? He actually returned to Leicester at the end of his loan spell and at the end of the season.

Logic would indicate that, by not using him the last god knows whatever games, his loan ending clearly didn't affect Dundee whatsoever as he had no impact and Dundee clearly decided they had a better player on their books already.

In the City’s history nobody has shown such stubborn defence as dml, get him in at full back.

Are you ignoring his appearances in the EFL cup for Leicester's U21s? Were they not professional performances?

He was crap at Dundee, unless you go from regular starter to a few minutes off the bench as you improve.

How to make yourself look stupid in one easy go. Adding up not your strong point either ? Shouldn't be surprised really though by your previous comments. Slagging off young players appears to be a forte of yours.

Didn't you slag off Mark Harris?

    Which comments are those then?
Do you mean the previous posts where I've championed Colwill and stated we should build a team around him?
Or where I've stated the options open for us when Davies is fit?
Maybe it was when I said Bagan should be starting and given a run of games at LB, although I'm not sure if he's better as a wing back?
Perhaps it was a mention of Eli King going out on loan and how we will benefit from him gaining league experience as he looks like a decent prospect for us!
You carry on old son offering your opinion as fact although the jury is still out, I'm still not sure if you know anything about football or are just a WUM

One thing though, your posts are entertaining so keep up the good work
