I'd want no part of it either.
FIFA corruption at it's blatant peak.

Wonder how many Wales fans feel like these two?

I'd want no part of it either.
FIFA corruption at it's blatant peak.
"Will it be fun?"
Even if you were immune to the major human rights issues surrounding the event, this sums up the reason why most feel the same way.
Not just Welsh supporters as from my (admittedly limited) contacts many, normally dedicated travelling English, French & Spanish supporters are not bothering .
In fairness most are quoting the costs and inconvenience as opposed to human rights or football concerns but there seems to be very limited interest even from the press for this tournament.
I personally hope the whole thing collapses as a huge wake up call to FIFA. Probably not going to happen and we will undoubtedly be looking at further commercialisation and expansion.
I have attended six World Cups in my 40 years of following my lot but I have never been so disinterested in a tournament.
Big fat brown envelopes will ensure that whether it's a success or not, these sort of countries will still get to host these sort of events.
Therein lies the problem, blatant corruption.
FIFA won't care whether 2 hundred turn up or 2 million, they're getting paid regardless and that's all they'll care about.
FIFA needs to be completely dismantled.
I’m not planning to go but I was browsing on Wonky Sheep recently and all their World Cup packages were sold out.
I'm going.
Was thinking of canceling a few weeks back primarily due to the stupid covid testing requirement which they have thankfully waived.
My anticipation levels should be higher than they are.
So annoying that we've qualified for this of all world cups.
I was speaking to a Welshie football coach on Friday, he was saying how this WC doesn't mean anything, I pointed out it does to me, as its been so long and is the 1st time in my lifetime and every football fan wants to see his / her country in the WC, he ranted on about human rights and the treatment of migrant workers, then moved onto the cost of fuel and the cost of living crisis, how he was worried about choosing to eat or heat etc etc, he had convinced himself that he wasnt going for the right reasons, I then said I wouldn't be going due to the cost, which he agreed and said he was the same
I would love to see City win something big before I die but Wales are a very distant second
Ethically it's disgusting and for the first time I will ignore the world cup a competition most football fans have wonderful memories off ..
Thanks FIFA for applying greed
Sadly our new found social conscious footballers and teams still feel the need to go.
Hypocrisy at its best, bugger the safe virtual signaling of taking the knee , perhaps they should man /person up and apply a real signal of concern for others , and not attend ..
Astonishing how football has so few gay men ..
I think if I won the lottery tomorrow ($1B) I still wouldn't go. In fact, if I had that kind of money I'd be more likely to bribe the players and the FAW to boycott.
you must be rolling in loot if you are thinking about going in these very hard times
could you pay for me and my daughter to go and watch just one Welsh game, hopefully the one where Bale scores the winner with a screamer of a free kick in the 93rd minute
I was close to going with Wonkysheep, but just couldnt justify the cost, I really couldnt, its a large chunk of a family holiday
In addition to the Qatar issues, with it being in the middle of a season just makes it all seem a bit flat.
Hopefully that will change when the tournament gets underway, but this one is just not the same for several reasons.
I have never enjoyed the idea of hanging around with fellow fans who when the tournaments end go back to ignoring Welsh football for the likes of Liverpool and Man United .
Loads of bandwagon jumpers following Wales
That Gethin Jenkins , a Cardiff Boy , was on about how excited he was about the world Cup and he's an Everton fan ? 🙄
Unbelievable
It goes without saying that Qatars laws and social norms are not compatable with our own. I can reluctantly live with that, as football is a global game. The unequivocal reasons they shouldnt host is the total unsuitability of the country, lack of infrastructure and football history etc. When taken as a whole, it is unbelievable they are hosting really.
I'm not going. It doesn't appeal as a place to visit but more than anything I simply cannot afford. It would wipe my savings out and I'm not doing that for a bunch of footballers.
I don't dispute that many people admirably are boycotting, but I do wonder if so many would make a moral stance if the country was a lot easier and cheaper to get to tbh
