    SAS Rogue Hero's BBC

Wow what a watch to think this small band of men effected North Africa campaign.

Interesting Churchills involvement and creating such a rogue group which the generals were not keen on..

I found it a bit silly and overexaggerated at times but a decent watch all the same.

Paddy Mayne being made out as a lunatic who snarled at anybody that dare speak to him was a bit OTT also. Very interesting man though. Played international rugby for Ireland and the Lions.

It severely downplayed the role of the LRDG (Long Range Desert Patrol Group). They were the ones who extracted Sterling and his men after their parachute drop and guided them in in many of the earlier missions. They trained the SAS people on desert navigation and a few of their members transferred over to the SAS as navigators.

Bit of a daft comment, don't ya think??
Had Hitler gotten control of mainland Europe, which was clearly the intention, I daresay no blacks, Jews, Muslims etc would be residing anywhere in Europe right now.
Who's the more racist of the two of them really?

And he was given the boot by the electorate Towards the end of the second world War. Bit strange that, you would have thought that he would have been very popular. Obviously not. Also sent The Murderous 'Black and Tans' into Ireland. My Grandfather despised Churchill.

Spot on, Churchill was a first class twat, the electorate saw right through him in the election after the war, unlike today’s voters. The result of that election tells the true story of the UKs opinion of the man not the heroic, greatest Briton ever, fantastic leader shite we’ve been fed for years and years. He was a horror of a man from the very start of his political career.

David Sterling may have been a Boy's Own 'hero' in WW2 - but he was also a dangerous right wing fanatic who planned an armed coup against the Wilson government in the 1970s. GB75 was real and Stirling's views and most of his plans are clear.

The only dispute is how far MI5, MI6 and other elements of the establishment were also involved.

I've not seen this series but recently started watching the Mayfair set. It's old now but I found it very interesting. The first episode, at least, focuses on Stirling and the SAS.
