The power supply system of this country has been on the brink of blackouts for the last few years, but they have thankfully got away with it, due to a string of warm(ish) winters, and low demand. But it was bound to catch up with us eventually. Years of under-investment means that supply is in a parlous state, and we can't expect Europe to bail us out any more. But the government can now blame Russia, instead of their own mismanagement. Power cuts usually mean lost elections, but if they can blame it on someone else...
