The first rock album I bought was Truth by The Jeff Beck Group in 1968.
Ronnie Wood on bass and Rod Stewart on vocals.
They were considered to be a major influence on Led Zeppelin..
    RIP Jeff.Thanks for the memories.

So sad. He seemed so healthy, his playing was undiminished by age and it's such a shock he's gone. RIP Jeff.

I saw him at St David's Hall in May. This news is a shock. Very sad.

I'm lucky enough to have seen him play live on his first appearance with the Yardbirds a very long time ago. Apparently he died of bacterial meningitis. I recall in the 1960's he almost died of the same thing.

Others have said it all really - occasionally, there are deaths announced which come as a complete surprise because you think they'll always be there, this is one of them.

    RIP

Will there be a silver lining for him ?

    Re: Jeff Beck RIP

Very innovative guitarist. The Yardbirds' Shapes of Things is arguably the first hard rock song and features Beck's use of feedback.

The Jeff Beck Group's Truth is an excellent album, sort of bluesy hard rock. Beck and Rod Stewart contributed a few originals while most of the other material were exciting reworkings of blues songs.

He fell off my radar after that, seemed to go down the jazz fusion path.

    RIP Jeff

Nigel Tufnell , the dopey but talented guitarist from Spinal Tap was a sort of parody of Jeff Beck

    Especially his haircut
